EDMONTON, CANADA - SEPTEMBER 24, 2023: Dale McFee, Edmonton's 23rd Chief of Police for the Edmonton Police Service seen during the 25th annual Alberta's Police and Peace Officers' Memorial Day, celebrated on the Alberta Legislature Grounds, on September 24, 2023, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Today, three new names were added to the Pillar of Strength memorial, a monument honoring Alberta's police and peace officers. Since 1876, 104 police and peace officers have lost their lives in the line of duty in Alberta Province, and this solemn occasion serves as a reminder of their sacrifice.
