Protest In Toulouse In Support Of Palestine

Hundreds of people are demonstrating in Toulouse, France, on December 2, 2023, in support of Gazans, the Gaza Strip, and more broadly for Palestine. Since the escalation of hostilities by Hamas on Israel on October 7th, Israel has imposed a complete blockade on the Gaza Strip, cutting off water, food, electricity, fuel, medicine, and at times, communication with the outside world. The U.N. estimates that up to 1.8 million people in the Gaza Strip, or nearly 80% of the population, have been forced to flee due to Israel's devastating bombing campaign. Despite Israel targeting hospitals, UN shelters, schools, ambulances, and press buildings, the global North continues to support Israel without question, while the global South is calling for an immediate and lasting ceasefire. All hospitals in the north of the Gaza Strip are currently non-functional. U.N. experts are calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, citing that Palestinians there are at 'grave risk of genocide'. Even though Israel has ordered civilians to evacuate northern areas of Gaza, its military is still bombarding the south of the strip. More than 1.8 million Gazans have been displaced. To date, 1,200 Israelis and more than 16,000 Palestinians, including over 6,000 children, have been killed. Hundreds of thousands of people around the world are protesting against this cruel and barbaric war. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
