Unaided Haitian Migrants Spend Christmas In Mexico City
Haitian migrants are camping outside an overcrowded shelter in the Tlahuac Forest in Mexico City during Christmas. They are attempting to mobilize and carry out procedures at the facilities of the Mexican Commission for Aid to Refugees to extend their stay in Mexico. Given the challenges their compatriots face entering the United States, they are also waiting for a ''Visitor Card for Humanitarian Reasons,'' which would allow them access to health services and employment opportunities in Mexico while they prepare to continue their journey to the border.
