The Project Of Indonesian Biggest Hydropower Plant In South East Asia
Construction workers are building the biggest hydropower plant in Southeast Asia along the Kayan River at Long Peso, Bulungan, in North Kalimantan, Indonesia, on December 12, 2023. This environmentally friendly power plant, a collaboration between PT. Kayan Hydro Energy and Sumitomo Corporation Japan, will feature 5 dams with a total capacity of 9,000 Megawatts and is expected to begin operations in 2027 to support electricity in the Kaltara Integrated Green Economic Zone by PT Kalimantan Industrial Park Indonesia (KIPI).
