The Striped Forest Hoverfly (Dasysyrphus Albostriatus) Is A Hoverfly In The Subfamily Syrphinae. The Species Was First Described By Swedish Entomologist Carl Fredrik Fallén As Scaeva Albostriatus . The Latin Species Epithet Albostriatus Means “white Or Light-striped”.The Hoverflies Are About 8 To 10 Mm Long. The Shiny Brown-black Colored Mesonotum Has Two Whitish Longitudinal Stripes. The Label Is Colored Yellow. Three Yellow Transverse Bands Run Across The Brown-black Abdomen, Which Meet In The Middle At An Angle And Can Also Be Interrupted In The Middle. The Legs Are Yellow. The Species Is Widespread In Europe. Their Occurrence Extends From Fennoscandia And The British Isles In The North To The Mediterranean And North Africa. To The East, The Distribution Area Extends To The Far East Of Asia (Japan, Korea) With Individual Records In Siberia.
