Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia

The airport is the third-largest airport in the country, while serves as the main airport of Northern Greece, apart from the city of Thessaloniki it also serves the popular tourist destination of Chalkidiki and the surrounding cities of Central Macedonia. The flight route Athens–Thessaloniki is the tenth busiest in the EU with annually 1.8 million passengers. A second terminal was constructed in conjunction with Fraport and formally opened in 2021. The airport is a hub for Aegean Airlines, Olympic Air, Sky Express and a base for Ryanair. There are scheduled, seasonal and chartered flights, while the airport has passenger and cargo facilities and it serves as public and military. The airport is owned by the Government of Greece but is operated by Fraport Greece. Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide is a German transport company which operates Frankfurt Airport and holds interests in the operation of several other airports around the world.
