International Court Of Justice In The Hague

Flag of the United Nations wave in the wind on a flagpole located in the courtyard of the ICJ. The flag is a sky blue banner containing the United Nations emblem in the centre. The emblem on the flag is coloured white depicting the world map in the azimuthal equidistant projection which is surrounded by a pair of olive branches. The emblem was officially adopted on 7 December 1946. The Peace Palace building of the International Court of Justice. The building of the Peace Palace houses the International Court of Justice, which is the principal judicial body of the United Nations, the Permanent Court of Arbitration PCA, The Hague Academy of International Law and the Peace Palace Library. ICJ or World Court is the only international court that adjudicates general disputes between nations, and gives advisory opinions on international legal issues. It is one of the six organs of the United Nations UN. The ICJ consists of a panel of 15 judges elected by the UN General Assembly and Security Council.
