Strike And Protests For Public Schooling
Teachers, professors, and students are striking and taking to the streets in Toulouse, France, on February 1, 2024, against the new Minister of National Education, Amelie Oudea-Castera, and the lack of resources for public schools. The minister is embroiled in scandals as she has enrolled her children in a private Catholic school that separates students by gender, and one of her children bypassed the mandatory 'Parcours Sup' process required for admission to schools, colleges, or universities. Protesters are calling for her resignation, as Amelie Oudea-Castera has also authorized the funding of the private Stanislas school, where her children attend, with public money.
