Bald Eagles In Des Moines
A bald eagle is soaring over the Raccoon River in Des Moines, Iowa. According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, which conducts an annual survey each January, the population of bald eagles in Iowa is expected to be lower this year than in previous years. In the 2023 survey, the DNR reported 2,901 eagles across Iowa. Due to warmer weather, the DNR is expecting the eagles to stay further north, in colder areas this year.
