Animal India - Pheasant-tailed Jacana - Hydrophasianus Chirurgus
The Pheasant-tailed Jacana (Hydrophasianus chirurgus) is walking on the wetland and hunting insects, with its reflection visible on the water at Kaliganj, West Bengal, India, on 15/02/2024. The Pheasant-tailed Jacana is a jacana in the monotypic genus Hydrophasianus. Its breeding plumage is characterized by elongated central tail feathers that give the bird its name. It is the only jacana species that migrates long distances and breeds on floating vegetation during the rainy season monsoon, from June to September. (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
