Xinacates Carnival Celebration In Puebla, Mexico
Young people with their bodies painted black and wearing masks are participating in the pre-Hispanic celebration 'The Carnival of the Xinacates' in San Nicolas de los Ranchos, Mexico, on March 3, 2024. This festivity takes place in the municipality located on the slopes of the Popocatepetl volcano, in the state of Puebla. As part of the tradition, the Xinacates, or painted people, are taking to the streets to paint tourists. During these celebrations, a tribute is being paid to the Teoton volcano so that the inhabitants can have a good harvest season. (Photo by Essene Hernandez/Eyepix Group) (Photo by Eyepix/NurPhoto)
