Major Securities Firms Urged To Adopt Coal-Free Financing
The National Coal Phase-Out Network Beyond Coal is holding a press conference in front of Yeouido Park One Tower 2 in Seoul, South Korea, on March 27, 2024, demanding that six securities firms (NH Investment & Securities, Mirae Asset Securities, Shinhan Investment Corp., KB Securities, Kiwoom Securities, and Korea Investment & Securities) stop the underwriting and sales of corporate bonds for the Samcheok Coal-Fired Power Plant (Samcheok Blue Power). Beyond Coal, through its press release, is stating, ''Considering the global trend where financial institutions are excluding coal investments to focus on renewable energy and green industries, these six securities firms, aspiring to become global leaders, must immediately stop coal financing including the acquisition and sales of Samcheok Blue Power's corporate bonds and show tangible changes that align with a coal phase-out declaration.''
