Procession Of The Madonna Desolata
(EDITOR'S NOTE: Image was converted to black and white) One of the women in the procession is lowering the veil over her face during the procession for the Madonna Desolata in Canosa di Puglia, Italy, on March 30, 2024. The procession of the Madonna Desolata, which enlivens the streets of Canosa di Puglia since the early hours of Holy Saturday, is considered a real performance. In fact, about 400 female figures are participating, all dressed in black and with their faces covered, making the atmosphere even more intense and heartfelt. Because of the way it is organized and the huge number of visitors it attracts from all over Apulia and beyond, the Desolata is undoubtedly one of the most evocative and participatory Holy Week rites.
