Iftar Gathering At The 27th Night Of Ramadan In Jakarta Arab Village
Thousands of Muslims are participating and also coming from other cities in West Java and Central Java during the break-fasting event on the 27th night of Ramadan at Kampung Arab, West Jakarta, Indonesia, on April 6, 2024. Since the 18th century, local residents of Kampung Arab (Arabic Village) in Pekojan, West Jakarta, have been holding an annual gathering every 27th of Ramadan. The highly-anticipated event is visible on the streets around the hosting mosque. During the tradition, popular Middle Eastern dishes such as kebuli rice are being prepared. Uniquely, the tradition is held for men, while women are only allowed to hold the gathering at their homes. The tradition also allows them to meet with relatives and family members they haven't seen in a long time. (Photo by Afriadi Hikmal/NurPhoto)
