Philippines Light Electric Vehicle Restriction Protest
An enforcer from the Metro Manila Development Agency (MMDA) is looking on as cyclists and light electric vehicle users are standing outside its headquarters, protesting the MMDA's moves to restrict and regulate the use of light electric vehicles (LEVs) in Pasig City, Philippines, on April 10, 2024. Mobility and commuter advocates, as well as users of LEVs such as electric tricycles, electric bicycles, and electric scooters, are opposing the metropolitan office's move, arguing that it is anti-poor, reduces options for commuters, is environmentally unsustainable, and violates the country's Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act, or the EVIDA Law.
