Pro-Palestinian Protesters In Amsterdam, Netherlands

Police officers are pushing back protesters with shields and using their batons in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on May 9, 2024. A pro-Palestinian rally is starting from the University of Amsterdam (UvA), where students and supporters are shouting slogans for a ceasefire, ''Free Palestine,'' and ''Hands off Rafah,'' while holding banners with similar messages. Thousands of demonstrators supporting Palestine are continuing to flock the streets, marching through the city center of Amsterdam and ending at the UvA's administrative center, Maagdenhuis, at Spui. Mobile units of riot police and dog interventions are escalating the situation, and clashes are breaking out between students and police officers. The protest is concluding with a silent sit-in. Reports indicate injuries and three arrests during the unrest.
