GWU students rally at site of cleared Gaza solidarity encampment

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian students and supporters rally at the site of their Gaza solidarity encampment the day after police cleared the camp and arrested more than 30 people, Washington, DC, May 9, 2024. For 14 days, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) had prohibited police action to clear the camp, citing the students’ right to protest. She reversed that decision prior to her scheduled appearance at a House Oversight Committee hearing on the matter. Once the camp was cleared, the hearing was cancelled.
