People are visiting the Gunung Padang pyramid site in Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia, on May 12, 2024. Known as the ''mountain of enlightenment,'' Gunung Padang sits atop an extinct volcano and is revered as a sacred site by the local community. In 1998, it was declared a national cultural heritage site. Dating back to at least 5,000 - 6,000 years BC, the site is thought to have been constructed for worship or astronomical purposes.
