Wilde Memorial Park Partially Reopened Following Shooting In Glen Rock New Jersey

Wilde Memorial Park is partially reopening in Glen Rock, New Jersey, United States, on May 23, 2024, following a shooting. Wilde Memorial Park is partially reopening the grounds Thursday; however, the basketball courts are remaining closed as police investigate the shooting incident. Shoes and other debris can be seen on the court as it is closed to the public with crime scene tape. The Glen Rock Police Department is responding to a disturbance at Wilde Memorial Park on Tuesday evening at approximately 7:34 p.m., where a large crowd is gathering to play basketball on the outdoor basketball courts. A 23-year-old Paterson, New Jersey resident is suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim is being treated at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is released. The Glen Rock Police Department is being assisted by several neighboring law enforcement agencies, including the Bergen County Sheriff's Department, Fair Lawn Police Department, Hawthorne Police Department, New Jersey Transit Police Department, Paramus Police Department, and Ridgewood Police Department. The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigations Squad are responding to the scene to initiate a joint investigation into the shooting.
