Houses are being seen as the Teesta River water enters Laltong forest village due to heavy and continuous rainfall in the area. The village is located on the left bank of the Teesta on the fringes of Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, some 22 km from Siliguri, on July 5, 2024. The entire village is getting submerged under the floodwater of the Teesta River. Around 70-odd families of the village are being temporarily relocated to an adjacent area. The district administration of Jalpaiguri and representatives of NGOs are providing relief materials for the affected villagers. (Photo by Diptendu Dutta/NurPhoto)
