Protest In Cyprus
A group of Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots is gathering at the Ledra Palace checkpoint to protest about the situation in Cyprus, demanding unification and peace between all communities, in Nicosia, Cyprus, on July 20, 2024. The Green Line (or buffer zone) is separating the island since 1963, as an initial measure to prevent hostilities between Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots, but since the Turkish invasion in 1974, it is working as a de facto border between the Republic of Cyprus and the self-declared ''Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,'' which only Turkey recognizes as a legitimate state.
