Korean Totem Pole

A funny Jangseung (village guardian) is standing near a village in Hongcheon, South Korea. A Jangseung (village guardian) is a Korean totem pole usually made of wood. Jangseungs are traditionally placed at the edges of villages to mark village boundaries and frighten away demons. They are also worshipped as village tutelary deities.
