Ken Elmore Is Seen On His Property Following The Aftermath Of The Thompson Fire, In Oroville
The aftermath of the Thompson Fire is being seen on View Lane in Oroville, Calif., on Sunday, July 31, 2024. Ken and Vivian Elmore of Oroville are losing outbuildings, and the majority of their land is burning. Their house is surviving, which they believe is being helped by the cactus planted around the perimeter. The fire that is burning 3,789 acres in early July is threatening Oroville Dam, part of the California State Water Project (SWP), which is supplying water to close to 27 million Californians and 750,000 acres of farmland.
