One person is being killed, and one person is being critically injured in a shooting outside a recreation center in Washington, DC, United States, on August 1, 2024. Police officers are responding to the shooting around 7:57 p.m. on Tuckerman Street near the Lamond Recreation Center. Police officers are finding two people suffering from gunshot wounds. A 14-year-old is being pronounced dead on the scene, and an 18-year-old man is being taken to the hospital in critical condition. ''This is another example of the senseless gun violence in our city. This incident is happening at a recreation center where our young people should be able to come and recreate and have a good time and enjoy themselves,'' Chief Smith is saying.
