Hora Sfakion Coast Town In Crete Island
A general view of Hora Sfakion, or Sfakia, in Crete, Greece, on August 28, 2024. This town on the south coast of Crete touches the Libyan Sea in the Mediterranean. It is the capital of the remote and mountainous Sfakia region. The town connects by ferry through the small dock and road to the mainland. During the summer, it is a famous destination for tourists, with beaches featuring crystal clear water and proximity to canyons, gorges like Imbros Gorge, and the White Mountains, Lefka Ori. Many hikers, after crossing Samaria Gorge, continue trekking to Chora Sfakion or pass through there via the connecting ferry from Agia Roumeli, Loutro, or Gavdos island.
