Daily Life In Kerala
A sculpture of Jatayu stands at the Jatayu Earth Center in Chadayamangalam, Kerala, India, on April 06, 2024. This sculpture of Jatayu is the world's largest bird sculpture. According to legend, Jatayu is a demi-god in the Hindu epic Ramayana who has the form of a vulture. When the demon king Ravana attempts to abduct Sita to Lanka, Jatayu tries to rescue her. Jatayu fights valiantly with Ravana, but Ravana soon defeats him, clipping his wing. Jatayu falls onto the rocks in Chadayamangalam. It is said that this is the very rock on which Jatayu falls.
