Cyclonic Storm 'Dana'
Cyclone Dana approaches the eastern coasts of India and is expected to make landfall on the Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island. According to India Meteorological Department reports, the depression over the Bay of Bengal might escalate to a cyclonic storm between the night of October 24 and the morning of October 25. It is expected to make landfall somewhere between Puri and Sagar Island. Cyclone Dana is set to impact Odisha and West Bengal, prompting the cancellation of over 190 trains and the closure of schools. Authorities conduct evacuations and prepare shelters. Both the Indian Coast Guard and state disaster forces are on high alert, with weather warnings issued for heavy rain and strong winds. Since morning, the sky over West Bengal is dark and cloudy, with rain and gusts. Even the birds show a flurry of activity in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on October 23, 2024.
