Kukur Tihar (Dog Festival) Celebrated In Nepal
People worship dogs to mark Kukur Tihar, the festival of dogs, on the occasion of the Tihar festival in Bhaktapur, Nepal. On this day, people offer dogs garlands, 'tika,' and delicious food and worship them for being trustworthy sentries and faithful companions of humans. Kukur Tihar is often observed on the second day of Yamapanchak of the Tihar festival. However, this year, Laxmi Puja and Kukur Tihar fall on the same day. (Photo by Amit Machamasi/NurPhoto)
