Hazy Winter Morning On Trieste’s Audace Quay

People view Audace, a quay on the old harbor of the northern Italian city of Trieste. The quay is located between the harbor basins of Bacino San Giusto and Bacino San Giorgio, in the immediate vicinity of Trieste's main square, Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia, and the former merchants' quarter of Borgo Teresiano. It is built between 1754 and 1756 by the Venetian Matteo Pirona, further digging the main collector of the salt pans when these are buried to allow the urban development of the city outside its walls. It is built so that boats can come directly to the city center to unload their goods. (Photo by Michael Nguyen/NurPhoto)
