Sartiglia celebration during carnival in Oristano

'Su Componidori' (the Head of the joust) blesses the crowd with 'Sa pippia de maiu' (a sceptre of violets, literally 'the maiden of May') at the end of the Sartiglia in Oristano, on the Island of Sardinia, Italy on February 9, 2016. The Sartiglia is an equestrian tournament of ancient origins, where masked knights on horseback try to pass a star with a sword, galopping along the track.
