Yanar Dagh Natural Gas Fire In Azerbaijan
Yanar Dagh, a natural gas fire which blazes continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula on the Caspian Sea near Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan on November 25, 2024. Azerbaijan translates to the Land of Fire. Flames jet 3 metres into the air from a thin, porous sandstone layer. n order to protect this landmark and support tourism in the area, the Yanardagh State Historical, Cultural and Natural Reserve was established in 2007.
