Nationwide Protests Demand President Yoon Suk Yeol’s Impeachment In South Korea

Citizens shed tears after the motion to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol is rejected in the National Assembly. On December 7, 2024, nearly one million citizens gather in front of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea, hoping for the impeachment vote to pass. However, lawmakers from the People Power Party ultimately block the motion. As a result, Yoon temporarily avoids impeachment despite his invocation of martial law, an act amounting to treason.
