Plane Crash Leaves One Dead And One Injured In Westchester County New York
One person dies after a small plane crashes on the highway in Westchester County, New York, United States, on December 12, 2024, according to State Police. I-684 shuts down near Exit 2 on the northbound side and Exit 3 on the southbound side in Harrison after the crash, according to State Police. Police respond to a report of a plane crash on I-684 near Exit 2 in Harrison, Westchester County. The initial investigation determines there are two individuals on the plane, and one is confirmed dead, according to police. According to live air traffic controller audio and Flightradar24, the plane allegedly takes off from Linden, NJ, at 6:09 p.m. and heads north along the Hudson River when it suddenly drops at a rate of 1000 feet per minute, makes a hard right turn toward White Plains Airport, and then declares an emergency. The NTSB says a single-engine Tecnam P-2008 crashes near Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York, around 7:15 p.m. after the pilot reports engine issues.
