President Yoon Suk Yeol's Arrest Imminent

Citizens rest at Hangangjin Station before attending the gathering in Seoul, South Korea, on January 4, 2024. Groups supporting President Yoon Suk Yeol and others calling for his arrest gather near his residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan, where his official residence is located. Thousands of participants are expected to join the gathering today. A Seoul Western District Court issues an arrest warrant for him over his failed attempt to impose martial law, marking the first time a sitting South Korean president faces such a scenario. The warrant is valid until midnight on January 6, and authorities, led by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials and the National Office of Investigation, are expected to attempt his detention again before the deadline.
