Wildlife Attractions In Kaikoura, New Zealand
A Pied shag dries its wings in Kaikoura Peninsula, South Island, New Zealand, on January 10, 2025. Kaikoura is a famous travel destination for whales, fur seals, albatross, bird watching, and snorkeling with dolphins in New Zealand. Over a million fur seals exist in Aotearoa before the fur and oil trade nearly wipes them out. Since 1978, they are protected by the Marine Mammals Act, and now about 25,000 live around Kaikoura.
