Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Is Set To Inaugurate The Strategic Z-Morh Tunnel In Kashmir

An Indian security personnel patrols the shores of Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on January 10, 2025. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the strategic Z-Morh Tunnel on the Srinagar-Leh highway on January 13, 2025. The tunnel ensures all-weather connectivity to the hill station Sonamarg, which remains cut off during the winter months due to snowfall. The tunnel also boosts tourism in the region. The Z-Morh Tunnel, along with the Zojila Tunnel, which is scheduled for completion by 2026, ensures all-weather connectivity to the Ladakh region, which remains cut off from the rest of the country during winters.
