Building Collapse In Kolkata's Vidyasagar Colony
A large portion of the ground floor of a four-storey building in Vidyasagar Colony, Baghajatin, Kolkata, India, near Anirban Sangha, collapses on January 14, 2025, leaving the building dangerously tilted. Preliminary investigations indicate that inferior materials are used in the building's frame, sparking concerns regarding the quality of the building materials employed. Authorities from nearby areas rush to the scene to safeguard the locality and prevent more harm. As a precaution, nearby inhabitants are evacuated, although no casualties are reported yet. Senior police officials, representatives of the Disaster Management Group (DMG), and fire officials arrive at the location, and the building will shortly be dismantled completely.
