Toulouse: AESH Protest For Better Working Conditions And Better Wages
A woman holds a cardboard sign that reads, 'AESH we want: a status, real substitutes, having the possibility to compete at the internal exams of National Education'. Following a nationwide call by the FSU, CGT'Education, SNALC, and SUD Education to strike and protest, AESH ('accompagnant d'eleve en situation de handicap') protest in Toulouse, France, on January 16, 2025. The acronym AESH stands for ''Support Assistant for Disabled Pupils''. As the National Education Ministry sees its sixth minister in two years, AESH still await better working conditions and better wages. Mainly women work as AESH, often living under the poverty line. They mainly protest against the lack of funding, the precarious job contracts, and the shortage of staff. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
