The 55-year-old man, identified as Jose Portillo, is discovered after NYPD responds to an apartment building at 137-17 70th Avenue for a welfare check after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, and Jose Portillo is pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner deems the incident a homicide. A 48-year-old woman, Sandra Coto Navarro, who lives at the address where the murder takes place, is arrested by the NYPD and charged Thursday with second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
