Segments Of Jialing River Affected By A Lowering Of The Water Level

Riverbeds of the Jialing River near the Qiansimen Bridge are exposed in Chongqing, southwest China, May 5, 2016. Affected by the water discharge from the Three Gorges Dam, the Chongqing segments of the Yangtze River and the Jialing River have seen a slump of water level. This has made channels narrower and shallower, posing a threat to the passing vessels. Inflow from the upper streams of the Yangtze River has hit an eight-year high in April, forcing the Three Gorges Dam to discharge more water and brace for floods.
