2025 Adire Cultural Festival In Abeokuta, Nigeria
Bags made with Adire materials are heaped on the floor during the grand finale of the 2025 edition of the Adire Cultural Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, on January 25, 2025. The late Miniya Jojolola Soetan, the second Iyalode (Head of Women) of Egbaland, pioneers Adire/Kampala (tie and dye) fabrics production in the Kemta, Itoku area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. This age-old handmade indigenous craft passes from generation to generation and attracts many traders and tourists. The local producers appeal for government intervention due to the scarcity of raw materials, imitation of their designs, and mass importation of fake Adire from China, which harms their businesses.
