Bailiff Shoots 35-year-old Man Suffering From Mental Health Crisis As He Turns Gun On Himself At Eastside District Court In Baltimore Maryland

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott and Police Commissioner Worley announce that a 35-year-old man experiencing a mental health crisis walks into Eastside District Court and points a gun to his head. A bailiff fires his weapon multiple times, striking the victim, and the victim also shoots himself in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, on January 31, 2025. At approximately 8:42 AM on Friday morning at Eastside District Court, a 35-year-old man walks inside while suffering from a mental health crisis. Bailiffs attempt to communicate with the victim when he pulls out a weapon and points it to his head. Officers give numerous commands for him to drop the weapon when, at some point, one of the officers fires several shots at the 35-year-old man, and at the same time, it is believed that the man also shoots himself. The victim is currently in extremely critical condition. Major crimes, the Attorney General's office, and the crime lab are investigating the shooting. The area community residents are shaken and outraged that the bailiff fires the weapon at the victim, who is suffering from a mental health crisis. (Photo by Kyle Mazza/NurPhoto)
