Toulouse: Gathering Against Sweeping Cuts In Public Services (culture, Education, Health..)
A unionist from the SUD trade union participates in a gathering called by several trade unions, mainly SUD and the CGT, in front of a building of the Toulouse Metropole to protest against sweeping cuts. The mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR right), and the head of Toulouse Metropole demand sweeping cuts across various sectors, including culture (theaters, activities for children, public libraries), sports (such as public swimming pools), science popularization (Quai des Savoirs, National Museum of Natural History), social services, and even school canteens. He plans to allocate more funds to security cameras (more than 4,000 planned for 2025) and local police. The French government demands these cuts due to a significant shortfall in public finances, with reductions planned between -60% and -30% of their latest budgets. This event takes place in Toulouse, France, on February 4, 2025. (Photo by Alain Pitton/NurPhoto)
