Riding The Mega Wave
Nazare attracts professional surfers from all over the world who push their limits and ride extreme waves. The world record for the biggest wave surfed is 26.21 meters, set in Nazare, Portugal, in 2020 by Germany's Sebastian Steudtner. However, even bigger waves are surfed since then, notably in February 2024, with estimates of up to 30 meters or more. These events attract thousands of visitors to Nazare.
