Civic Groups And Opposition Lawmakers Urge Immediate Action On Pension Reform In South Korea

Members of the Public Pension Reform National Action, a coalition of over 300 civic and labor groups, along with opposition lawmakers, including those from the Democratic Party of Korea, hold a press conference on the steps of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea, on February 20, 2025, urging the government to implement three key pension reform demands in line with public opinion. They call for a reform direction of ''pay more, receive more'' and urge the state to strengthen its responsibility for the National Pension through increased public funding. They also demand that the pension replacement rate be raised to 50%. (Photo by Chris Jung/NurPhoto)
