Birth Of Baby Orangutan

Staff at the Bandung Zoo Hospital dry a two-month-old Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) by carrying it in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, on February 21, 2025. Based on the results of the 2016 Orangutan Population and Habitat Viability Analysis (PHVA), there are currently an estimated 71,820 orangutans remaining on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo (Kalimantan, Sabah, and Sarawak). The IUCN Red List has listed the Bornean orangutan as endangered since 1994. (Photo by Khairizal Maris/NurPhoto)
