Traditional items adorn a Haft Sin (Haft Seen), an arrangement of seven symbolic items that all begin with the letter S in Farsi, displayed during the Nowruz Bazaar, a Persian New Year market, during Nevruz celebrations in Toronto, Canada, on March 1, 2025. Nevruz, also known as Norooz, Nourooz, Newroz, or Nowruz, means 'new day' and marks the first day of Spring. It is also celebrated in Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Albania, Bashkortostan, Bahrain, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, as well as among various other Iranian and Turkic peoples in Iraqi Kurdistan, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan, India, northwestern China, the Caucasus, the Crimea, and the Balkans.
