Clash Breaks Out Between Pokhara Police And Supporters Of Kotihom Mahayagya Organizers

A clash breaks out at Lakeside, Pokhara, on March 7, resulting in at least 15 people being injured, including seven police officers and nine supporters of the Kotihom Mahayagya, a Hindu religious event. The organizers explain that they intend to hold a Bhoomi Pujan ceremony prior to the grand Kotihom Mahayagya. However, Pokhara Metropolitan City intervenes, halting the event due to environmental concerns. Mayor Dhanraj Acharya emphasizes that long-duration events causing noise and environmental pollution are not allowed in the tourist city. (Photo by Yunish Gurung/NurPhoto)
