Hundreds Rally To Demand Release Of Pro-Palestinian Activist
New York City Councilwoman Alexa Aviles speaks to a crowd of hundreds gathered in Foley Square, New York City, USA, on March 10, 2025, to demand the release of pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil. Khalil is arrested in his apartment by ICE on March 8, 2025, and is currently detained in Louisiana. The Trump Administration accuses him--without evidence--of material support for Hamas and ''anti-American'' activities due to his pro-Palestinian advocacy. Khalil is a Syrian national, a legal permanent resident of the U.S., a recent graduate of Columbia, and a lead organizer of pro-Palestinian protests on campus. A judge temporarily blocks his removal from the U.S. (Photo by Melissa Bender/NurPhoto)
