India Buddhist Culture Excavted
Laborers are seen working on the excavation of a Buddhist cultural site under the guidance of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials at Ratnagiri Hills in Jajpur district, approximately 150 km from Bhubaneswar, the capital of the eastern Indian state of Odisha. Ratnagiri, Lalitgiri, and Udayagiri in Odisha are significant sites of Buddhist heritage in eastern India. According to the Archaeological Survey of India, these sites were once centers of Buddhist learning and assembly over a thousand years ago. Numerous relics continue to be unearthed through ongoing excavations, reaffirming Ratnagiri as one of India's ancient Buddhist cultural sites. (Photo by STR/NurPhoto)
